PreK and Kindergarten Schedules

In PreK and Kindergarten the class schedules honor the developmental stages of children from 3 -5.

The daily schedule DOES PROVIDE a balance between:

  • Teacher-Directed and Child Initiated Activities centered ON EMERGENT Literacy in RELIGION, English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.
  • Active and Quiet Activities
  • Time for Rest and Play
  • Independent and Guided Activities
  • Large and small group activites

Music, Art, Physical Education are integrated throughout the Curriculum. Technology is infused into the daily lessons.

SCHOOL CALENDAR

As per diocesan policy #6011:  “The annual school calendar shall include one hundred and eighty (180) instructional days. In addition, there are also five (5) staff days which include one (1) spirituality day and four (4) professional development days. We also include four (4) emergency days in our calendar count.”

MIDDLE STATES ACCREDITATION

The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools is a regional accrediting agent that has a reputation for recognizing a school that strives for excellence. All eligible schools, (36 elementary and 5 high schools) in the Diocese of Metuchen have been evaluated and accredited through the Middle States process. The remaining (3) schools are not eligible for Middle States accreditation because they are not full K-8 schools.

CORE CURRICULUM STANDARDS

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Metuchen follow the core curriculum as directed by the State of New Jersey for all subjects. Our core curriculum is the State Education Core Curriculum with adaptations made to reflect our Catholic values.
