Student Academic Performance Indicators

The schools of the Diocese of Metuchen promote academic excellence supported by quality educational programs. As with all Catholic schools, our alumni reports show that many of our graduates have become community leaders at the local, state and national levels. Our schools have a dropout rate of less that 1% and an accept rate of 97% for those entering institutions of higher learning.

Student achievement is assessed through a battery of standardized tests that include CTB Terra Nova, Writing Assessment, PSAT, SAT, AP Exams and teacher-generated tests. Through assessments, students’ test results are compared with the standards of academic performance. Our test scores show steady, consistent student progress toward academic excellence.

The tests are published and standardized by CTB McGraw Hill publishers based on specific objectives to be mastered by the students at particular grade levels.

Students in Grades Three and Seven also take the InView test that measures cognitive abilities in the areas of logical thinking, abstract thinking and verbal and quantitative reasoning.

Students in Grades Four and Seven take an annual writing assessment each fall. The on demand writing assessment can be an assigned persuasive, informative or narrative task.
