Support Services
Policy 7065 Catholic school students are entitled to bus transportation to their schools or, at a minimum, to aid in lieu of transportation. Elementary students living between two and twenty miles and secondary students living between two and a half miles from school are eligible for this transportation. In Hunterdon and Warren Counties, the upper mileage limit has been extended to thirty miles. Before and After School care is provided for students at Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Metuchen. For school year 2007-2008, 36 of the 39 early childhood, elementary and special needs schools offer these services. The percentage of schools with extended care for the current year is 92%. In the Diocese of Metuchen our schools have a nurse on site for at least two days a week. At least 16 of our schools (33%) have full time nursing services available. The elementary and secondary schools in the Diocese of Metuchen offer a comprehensive array of sports programs for their students. Elementary schools have available for students intramural, inter-school and CYO sports, while the high schools offer freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams for sports and are members of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. |
