Technology is used more and more to enhance students’ educational learning experiences. Technology provides quality information in a “real time” frame. Together the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Metuchen provide teachers, students, and parents with multiple ways of improving learning and communication. Technology provides our students with a world-class virtual library.
In Elementary Schools, the average computer instruction class time is 40 minutes per week for 30 weeks. This does not include the amount of time computers are used in integrated classtime instruction. Computers are used during classes for research or presentation of final products. Individual schools will have more detailed information on their computer instruction class time. High School computer classes run on a semester basis. Depending upon the course, half of the offered courses are on a half semester and the rest are for the full year. |

Ninety percent (90%) of our schools are internet-connected in either specified computer rooms, library/media centers, and/or classrooms. The goal for all of our schools is, more and more, to use the vast library and resources of the internet in the midst of the daily classroom learning. The schools are connected with cable, DSL, T1, or broadband access. Individual schools will have more information on types and areas of connection. |

PowerSchool is an Internet based student data information system designed to share information between parents, students, and teachers regarding student grades and attendance. Administrators can use the program for letters and forms for communication to government agencies, teachers, and parents. Teachers are able to provide grade information and comments with this program through parental connection. Students and parents will be able to view grades and future assignments in order to work together for the students’ academic success. Email notification is available for parents as an option. Schools are being added to the Diocese of Metuchen PowerSchool website in increments. Contact the school regarding the status of their participation in PowerSchool. |
