The Diocese understands and appreciates the protection and security that insurance provides, particularly when faced with difficulty of the sudden or unexpected loss of a loved one. For this reason, eligible employees are covered under our group Life Insurance program through MetLife.
Basic Program
Eligible employees are provided coverage in the amount of 1.5 times your base salary, to a maximum benefit of $200,000. The program is paid 100% by the employer and also includes Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance equal to 75% of your life insurance, to a maximum benefit of $30,000.
Supplemental Program
Employees may elect to purchase additional coverage at their own cost (up to $375,000 combined). This program also offers estate planning services for children or dependents with special needs at no additional cost.
Life Insurance Conversion Option
On leaving employment with the Diocese of Metuchen, eligible employees have the voluntary option of converting their coverage under our group life insurance policy to an individual whole life policy without undergoing medical certification. Applications must be submitted within 31 days to be eligible for consideration.
