The Diocese of Metuchen, by virtue of its status as a not-for-profit church organization, elects not to participate in the New Jersey Temporary Disability Program.
With very few exceptions, the majority of our parishes and schools likewise do not participate in the state program.
Instead, the Diocese of Metuchen has established a Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) Planfor Diocesan employees for the purpose of providing eligible employees with protection against wage loss should they become disabled due to non-work related illness or injury.
Modeled after the state program, the TDI plan provides that an eligible employee is paid two-thirds (2/3) of his or her average weekly wage, up to the maximum amount payable set for that calendar year.
The maximum weekly benefit rate (WBR) for disabilities beginning on or after January 1, 2006 is $488.
