Implementation Date for Roman Missal Set for First Sunday of Advent 2011
Cardinal Francis George, OMI, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) announced on August 20, 2010 that the final approved text of the Roman Missal was received and with it the implementation date in the United States was set for the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011. Recognitio Granted by Vatican - Third Edition of the Roman Missal Approved!
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced in a press release on April 30, 2010 that the official approval of the English translation of the Third Edition of the Roman MIssal was given by the Vatican. With the texts now approved, the next task of the USCCB is to determine an implementation date for when the revised texts will start to be used in the United States. The recognitio marks a major milestone in the process toward implementation and with it begins the phase of proximate preparation.

As we await the promulgation and implementation of the expected revisions to the Roman Missal, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Committee on Divine Worship recommends that this be a time of preparation and catechesis for both the clergy and the faithful.
