Ministry to the Bereaved
The Diocese of Metuchen through the Family Life Ministry Office sponsors support groups to meet the needs of grieving people. These parish based groups are open to anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one by death.
In addition to the parish based groups several other support groups are available. They are also listed below.
The following is a brief explanation of each type of group.
Recently Bereaved - primarily for someone in the initial stages of grief. Meetings are held once a week for six to eight consecutive weeks. Pre-registration is required unless otherwise noted. Check below for locations.
Support Groups - Meetings are held once a month and offer opportunities for spiritual, educational and informational growth. Registration is not usually required.

Rainbows is a peer support group for children (ages 4 -14) experiencing a significant loss, illness or other painful transition within their family. With the assistance of a facilitator, children will learn to put their feelings into words and begin the process of working through their grief.
