Sample Prayers of the Faithful
July 6th - Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer: Christ invites us to be refreshed in his love. Let us entrust to the Redeemer our concerns:
We pray that the church will be enriched with many fresh vocations to the priesthood, to consecrated life, to the diaconate and to the lay apostolate that serve the needy. We pray to the Lord
We pray that we might have the courage to seek God's simple but profound will in all our decisions, we pray to the Lord.
Prayer: Christ, our just Savior, we rejoice heartily in the tender mercy of God that is revealed in you. Hear our prayers for all our trust is in you, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
July 13th - Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer: To the God, who crowns each year with goodness, let us lift up our hearts and voices in prayer:
That our life together as Church and parish community may be rooted in the love and mercy of God: let us pray to the Lord.
That God may guard our youth from all that may harm them in body and spirit, and that he may challenge some of them to be of service to his people as priest, brother, sister or deacon: let us pray to the Lord.
Prayer: Gracious God, hear our prayer and through your Word bring us to life in the Kingdom where Jesus is lord forever and ever.
July 20th - Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer: To God, the Father of Mercy and Source of Justice, let us pray:
That the faith we celebrate at this Eucharistic table may make us "wheat" for a world hungering for justice and peace: let us pray to the Lord.
That the sower of all goodness may call more young men and women as priests, brothers, sisters or deacons to lead us all to the God whose love knows no limits: let us pray to the Lord.
Prayer: Father, hear the prayers of your Church. Let us be wheat of compassion, a seed of hope and yeast of your love. We make these prayers to you in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
July 27th - Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer: Let us pray for gifts in keeping with God's riches.
For the gift of reverence that all godly people may display respect for God's word and creation especially the dignity of others. We pray:
For the gift of knowledge; that we may discern what is good and holy before God and that more people may respond in this discernment as priest, brother, sister or deacon. We pray:
Prayer: God of goodness and love, may we cherish the gifts you give us to draw us to yourself. We ask all things in His Name. Amen
August 3rd - Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer: To the Lord of kindness and compassion who is near to all, let us pray to the Lord:
For our Church and parish community; that we may share joyfully with the poor, the hungry and the forgotten, all that God has given to us: Let us pray to the Lord.
That more young men and women may accept the call to be priest, brother, sister or deacon and teach us of the goodness of the Lord: we pray to the Lord.
Prayer: In the abundance of your kindness, O Lord, hear our prayers. May we embrace your Spirit of love by loving one another, with selflessness and with compassion. In Jesus' name, we pray.
August 10th - Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer: We come to the Eucharist with the faith of Peter: we know that Christ will save us when we call out to him. With confidence, we call out to the Lord in Prayer:
That Christ will save and grasp those whose lives are battered by storms of illness, grief, despair, or addiction: let us pray to the Lord.
That more young men and women will respond to the call to priesthood, brotherhood, sisterhood or to the diaconate. And that they may reveal to us the unseen and unrealized presence of God among us: let us pray to the lord.
Prayer: Lord, our light and our hope, hear the cries of our poor hearts and help us to know your presence in times of anguish and turmoil. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen
