Recognizing the deep wounds that racism continues to play in the wider society, as evidenced through the recent events unleashed by the tragic death of George Floyd and the ensuing unrest that has engulfed our nation, the Bishop seeks to bring an increased focus on unity and peace that is born from authentic justice rooted in the dignity of each person made in the image and likeness of God. Racism tends to show its ugliness among many groups of people. Included in our prayer is also for all those Chinese Americans, who in the midst of the pandemic have suffered unkind, critical and racial injustice from those who would seek to blame them based on reports linking the origin of the COVID-19 virus to their homeland.
These and all forms of bias, bigotry and racism have no place in the community of Christ. Our baptism calls us to work tirelessly in all the ways we can to overcome these sins against our sisters and brothers.
Please join our diocesan prayer services that will take place through live stream on the remaining Friday's of the month at 5 pm.
