The Office of Family Life supports ministries of welcome, formation and pastoral care for members of families, throughout the life cycle, as they strive to be disciples of the Gospel and faithful witnesses to Christ-centered life within their particular family as well as the larger families of their ecclesial community and society.
This is a very exciting time in your lives. We share in your joy and wish to support you as you prepare to join your lives together in Christ’s Church. We look forward to accompanying you on this joyful journey! May your engagement be a grace-filled time for you as a couple.
There are two types of support groups for separated and divorced Catholics. The first is a "self-help" support group, based on the premise that sharing one's thoughts, feelings and experiences is one of the most helpful ways of moving beyond the pain of divorce. The small group (limited to 12 people) is facilitated by a trained facilitator. This group meets once a week for 8 weeks. The group meeting is held at the St. John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Lane in Piscataway.
The second support group is primarily educational, informational, spiritual and social in its scope. Registration is not required and the size of the group is not limited. There are fixed meeting dates, usually once or twice a month.

This ministry is designed to provide immediate support for a family following the death of a loved one. First responders call the family with condolences on behalf of the parish community and make arrangements for a home visit. The Office of Family Life assists the Lazarus Parish Coordinators and volunteers.
Rooted in the Gospel invitation to share in the healing mission of Jesus Christ, the Office of Family Life provides support to clergy, pastoral ministers and volunteers who minister to those who have lost a loved one. Parish Bereavement Support Groups are available throughout the diocese and no registration is required.
For those in the initial stages of grief, meetings are held once a week for six to eight consecutive weeks. Pre-registration is required unless otherwise noted. There is also a once a month program for those who are seeking additional support.
This program is open to anyone who has lost a loved one. Its purpose is to help participants identify and work through the feelings and tasks associated with the grief process. We learn about the stages and stresses of grieving through experiential exercises and through mutual support and sharing in a safe, confidential environment. The group is open to all members of the community regardless of religious affiliation.
