Mount Saint Mary Academy seeks a full-time Staff Accountant. Key responsibilities are:
Payroll - Process the semi-monthly payrolls for all full and part-time employees, including ensuring the proper withholding of payroll taxes and elective benefit elections, such as 401(k) and health benefit contributions. Ensure proper remittances to benefit providers. Record payroll and benefit journal entries and reconcile related general ledger accounts. Track employee attendance.
Employee benefits - Administer health and other employee benefits. Interact with various third-party benefit providers. Negotiate annual benefit plan renewals with insurance broker(s), process annual open enrollment, enroll new employees, process employee terminations and COBRA elections.
Student enrollment contract and tuition and fee billing and collections - Interact with the Enrollment Management Office in the issuing of student enrollment contracts and the subsequent billing and collecting of tuition and fees. On a monthly basis, record all tuition billing and collecting of receivables and reconcile to the bank statement and the general ledger. Conduct a regular review of tuition and fees receivables, and delinquencies. Collection follow-up with families is also included in these responsibilities.
Financial aid and scholarship - In charge of annual review of Student Financial Aid Applications for new and returning students to present to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee, as well as monitoring and issuing of scholarship and other awards to students’ accounts as awarded by the Office of Enrollment Management and the Administration.
Other duties - Financial reporting and other duties as required by the Director of Finance, the Directress and Board of Trustees.
The position is also back-up to the Accounts Payable/Senior Accountant and supports the Director of Finance as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Experience with payroll and human resources is required.
Experience with General Ledger software, Blackbaud or similar.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Effective communication and writing skills, including ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Microsoft Excel and Word experience required.
Proficiency in Adobe and Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT or similar general ledger and reporting software desired.
