Saint Joseph High School, owned and operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, is a private, Catholic all-boys college preparatory school looking for a talented individual to take on the role of full-time Latin Teacher (in-person). This role is effective immediately and runs through June 16, 2023. Latin classes are held on campus daily (Mondays through Fridays) and school hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  There is the potential to be hired as a full-time faculty member for the upcoming school year 2023-2024 based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple preparations for grades 9-12, as this is a position for all levels: Latin I, Latin II / II Honors, Latin III / III Honors, and AP Latin IV. 
• Build a disciplined classroom culture in which students: enjoy learning Latin, master the language more confidently and accurately, think critically about course material, and assume ownership over their own learning
• Use a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments to ensure that students are engaged
• Develop positive relationships with parents, students and colleagues, creating investment in school culture and academics

• NJ Teacher of Latin Certification and/or completed degree in Latin
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Ability to teach various levels of Latin (Levels I - IV AP for grades 9-12)
• Strong classroom management skills
• Experience teaching high school students, preferred
