To mark the occasion, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has announced the National Catholic Mental Health Campaign and created a Novena for Mental Health. This is an opportunity for all the People of God to join together in prayer for those experiencing or impacted by mental health issues and for all those who accompany them. The Novena can be prayed at any time. In addition, there is a link to sign up for a daily e-mail, as well as a link at the bottom for Mental and behavioral Health Resources.
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen also offers programs to help those that are struggling with their mental health such as the Mental Health Navigator and outpatient counseling services. The Mental Health Navigator is a free service to assist residents of our Diocese in receiving support and education on how to understand and obtain mental health services and help remove the barriers that often exist when trying to figure out where to start. Mental Health Navigator can be accessed by visiting ccdom.org or by calling depending on what county in New Jersey you live in. For Middlesex County residents, please call 732-857-3811. For Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties, please call 908-333-2282.
Catholic Charities also offers outpatient services in all four counties in New Jersey. Please visit ccdom.org/counseling to learn more.
