Reacting to the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, Pope Francis has asked Catholics to be in solidarity with the region. The death toll had reached close to 20,000 as of February 9, with the number of dead expected to climb further. Watching the horrifying scenes of children being pulled from the rubble is heart breaking too.
Today is a special day to say thank you to God for you and your witness. We are so blessed here in the Metuchen Diocese by you, your commitment to your vows and your ministry on behalf of the Church. You give testimony to the world that Christ is enough in life and deserving of our love. You remind us that while we live in this world, we are journeying toward another and are called to try to make this world a little more like heaven by your acts of charity and mercy. Your leading others into deeper friendship with Christ has a significant impact on our diocesan family. Thank you!

As Catholics who believe in the intrinsic dignity of life from conception to natural death regardless of race, creed, or socioeconomic status, we welcome the United States Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. In its ruling, the Supreme Court has corrected the duplicitous reasoning in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which permitted the lawful killing of innocent life. As a Church, we are grateful to God for this blessing on our land and move to continue our work in building up a culture of life that supports all mothers and families in need. Today's ruling validates that even the most innocent and dependent human beings have a right to life.
